There's somethings about me you should know.

spe·cies·ism (spsh-zzm, -s-)

Human intolerance or discrimination on the basis of species, especially as manifested by cruelty to or exploitation of animals.

species·ist adj. & n.

speciesism [ˈspiːʃiːzˌɪzəm]
n
(Life Sciences & Allied Applications / Environmental Science) a belief of humans that all other species of animals are inferior and may therefore be used for human benefit without regard to the suffering inflicted
[from species + -ism]
speciesist adj

I am vegan but I do not look down on those that eat meat.
I am vegan but I do not look down on those who consume dairy products and other animal by-products.
I am vegan and do not believe that meat eaters are evil.

WHY?

Because I have no right to. Being vegan does not make me any more special or kind hearted than anyone out there. And I too used to be a meat eater. So how can I judge?

But what I will say is, I do disagree with fur. Because even when I ate meat, even when I drank milk... I always knew it was wrong. And why is this? Because I have not been brought up to think that it is right to use another animals skin as my clothing. It has never sat right with me. And it never will.

The thing is though, I will only spill all this if i see someone openly praising it up. I would not just say it to a passerby in the street. I didn't say it to the shop
owner and customer discussing fur in the vintage shop in London the other week. Most of the time I will keep quiet until my opinion is asked. Yes, blogs don't ask for my opinion, but surely the comments option kind of invites your thoughts on the blog? I would never want to upset or offend anyone. But to me, this isn't your views on someones dress or on their favourite film, this is a view on something that involves lives being ended. Of species being oppressed and quite literally bullied by our very own human race. Just as I wouldn't expect people to keep quiet on a racist post, or a sexist post, why should someone like me (a vegan/animal lover) keep quiet on something that is speciesist.

I am genuinely sorry if I come across as aggressive or arrogant with my views, if only I could tell you them in person, you could actually see that it is not how I put them across. The written word can be a lot colder and harsher unfortunately but I would hate anybody to feel I was trying to 'beat them down' with my views.

  1. say what you want, its your blog silly. Thats the whole point to come and read other people views about life and such. And its a perfect way to to hear new ideas and be like wow I never thought of that that way. I don't think you ever come off too abrasively at all.

  2. Thank you so much sweetie. Had a little bit of internet bashing today in regards to my anti-fur views. I always let it get to me, even though I should just ignore it.

    * I will be sending your parcel next Monday, I am SO sorry for the delay! Been super broke this month, but your parcel should be on it's merry way next week!
